High performance PCBN Grades for hard part turning 

CH0550 was launched in SECO NEWS 2016-1 and is a completely new grade for high cutting speeds in H05, continued cut application area.

The new and patent nanolaminate coating gives an extra wear resistance together with the new substrate which is designed to withstand crater wear at high cutting speeds and generate good surface finish.

In pure H05 applications gives the new CH0550 superior tool life compared with earlier recommended grades. See below application example.

High performance PCBN Grades for hard part turning

 CH3515 is the option for H35, heavy interruptions in hardened steels.

The grade contains 90 % cBN and is the toughest grade in this new PCBN grade chain. It has a (Ti,Al)N coating which gives its yellow colour which improves tool life, and the yellow colour also makes it easy to identify tool wear.

 New substrate + (Ti,Al)N coating = A H35 Success

A new type of substrate with a bimodal grain size distribution where the base is fine grained with additions of coarser grain size.
